My pure labrador retriever puppy 5weeks was playing with me I ran and jumped over a cord and he tried but his neck jabbed into it he is a boy is he going to be ok and how hard is it to train LABS
I have a pet budgie and I am planning on getting a Nova Scotia Duck tolling retriever, is it possible to train the dog not to attack my bird or is this a trait that can not be controled?
She’s a guide dog puppy and their vet isn’t open till Monday.
Is there anything I can do to help her in the mean time??
Also – stupid question, can she pass it onto me??
I am just wondering which is better to train a couple of stubborn labs to walk beside you where they should be instead of walking us? A pinch collar, a choker collar or the gentle leader? keep in mind both labs although stubborn were also not worked with much in the line of training.
www.sitmeanssit.com Train your dog using a wire crate. In part 2, I show a few more things you can do but I am using a different dog and it’s shown for a different dog sport that deals with protection and police dogs with a Belgian Malinois. You can see how sports can correlate as part 1 dealt with a similar thing, but with a Labrador Retriever. You can adapt this crate and Sit Means Sit dog training to anything.
We adopted a golden retriever about a year ago who was abused and neglected. He has warmed up to my wife a little bit, but he avoids us most of the time. For instance if we stand up from the couch, he makes sure to walk the other way in order to avoid us coming too close. I had read one of Cesar Milans books, and I agree that walks and exercise are essential in building a strong bond between owner and pet. However, whenever I put a leash on him, which is usually in his crate, he runs out of his crate and frantically bites at the leash running as fast as he can in order to escape this foreign object on his back/neck. Any ideas on what we should do in order to leash train him?
I do agree, that once the leash is attached he is probably running from us, but even if I just let the leash hang from his neck, it really freaks him out. Also, we tried a harness and that is what he freaked out with, we haven’t used a regular harness, because we figured if he didn’t like the harness he wouldn’t like a regular collar.
My other dog’s name is Holly, so I don’t want his name to end in "y" or "ie". Any suggestions?
My lab is 4 years old. He knows basic tricks, like sit and lay down, but i would love to train him to do stuff like roll over and bring a ball back when i throw it and drop it at my feet. I’ve tried using treats and cuddles but he just wont do anything i try and train him to do. he always has to have something in he’s mouth like a shoe or a toy but he doesn’t ever chew any shoes he just holds them in his mouth. Also I think he might have a really short attention span.
